Tell us about your brand and how it came to be.

Gawd how did I get here - (how did any of us get here!? what's real!?) - to be honest, it was really an accident - I never really intended to start my own business and I didnt study fashion design at any point in my life so how I've ended up as a fashion tycoon is beyond me. No, in all seriousness, my mum taught me to sew, the basics anyway - curtains and customizing my flares.. all you need really, it was always a fun thing, encouraged by her - to mend and reuse and be creative - and so a few months after she died in 2020 from breast cancer - I found myself sitting at her sewing machine with some old scraps of fabric and a desire to make a shirt.... and here we are.

What gets you up in the morning?

Ummmm - a young reincarnated Heath Ledger (ideally from a knight's tale) but failing that - oh I don't know - feelings of irrepressible angst, a relentless sense impending doom and a massive list of reasons to go into hiding forever - followed by a slap in the face and a full body submersion in the filthy waters of the ladies ponds... always hoping to catch Weil's disease!

If you could borrow anyone else's wardrobe, who would it be?

FLOSSIE’S (my best friend and style supremo) - or Ian Mckellen's.

How would you dress your alter-ego?

I am my alter ego…

What are you reading and/or listening to?

Proust, Kafka, Tolstoy AKA Harry Potter... Or, I don't know, a little book of quips and witticisms which I will regurgitate to an unsuspecting listener. What am I listening to? Myself, regurgitating the quips and witticisms when the aforementioned unsuspecting listener is unavailable…

Name one of your most daring moments?

Running through a field of wheat. Lol how many people say that. But I can’t tell you the real ones for fear of citizens' arrest...

Why is sustainability important to you?

For the same reason I assume it’s important to everyone - IMPENDING DOOM.

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

Ha!? I didn't know we were still doing Mayors…  I suppose I’d hang off a zipwire for a bit then introduce a cumbersome bicycle scheme.

What are your “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started” and why?

5.. I mean there's probably 100 but I won't bore you with the ins and outs of her majesty's revenue and customs (but I will tell you that it's not her majesty's revenue and costumes… which I might have been calling it for sometime)

Um what else… a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush… you cant make money from old rope (but you can from old tablecloths...)  what was it Jeremy Deller said about Bats… oh yes - DONT FUCK WITH BATS, or cats or rats for that matter.

What has been your most satisfying moment since starting your business?

Being recognised in the streets - only because of the aforementioned daring moment and it’s by the police. Kidding. I am not a criminal - unless it's a smooth criminal - in which case I am definitely that.

What is your favorite aspect of being a designer?

Oh the riches, fame and free time. Kidding I have none of those (Gosh there's rather a lot of kidding going on here - anyone would think i'm a kidder with a serious aversion to sincerity…)

Pope in fake Balenciaga goat. Sorry, I meant coat.
